HOSSAM ELSAYYAD, PHD

Islamic Studies

"The most amazing thing is to see or hear one of my students apply the skills that I have taught them and see the excitement on their faces..."

Brother Hossam Elsayyad, PhD, joins Al-Hamra Academy Faculty in the 2017-2018 Academic Year as our Teacher for Islamic Studies, Grades 3 through Grade 7. Brother Hossam was awarded his PhD in Educational Psychology from Bath Spa University in the UK following a dual Bachelor's Degree in Language Arts and Education from Mansoura University, Egypt.

Brother Hossam possesses a broad experience in teaching in a grade 1-12 setting with a diverse population in Kuwait governmental schools, in additon to mentoring student teachers in training, as well as supervising teachers in service. His principal area of interest, as well as academic research, has been in the areas of working memory, bilingual literacy (Arabic & English), and home literacy environment. Brother Hossam has published papers on Arabic literacy in international journals.

Brother Hossam is very much looking forward to working with all of the Students at the Academy, viewing himself primarily as a facilitator of learning, rather than as an expert who simply delivers information to students. When planning a curriculum or interacting with students, he is always conscious of their different learning styles and rates, what they have already learned and what they will need to learn in the future.
